Dying to Self

Are you dead yet? In these last days the Spirit would bring us to the Cross. "That I may know Him... becoming like him in his death." -Philippians 3:10 When you are forgotten, or neglected, or purposely set at naught, and you don't sting and hurt with the insult or the oversight, but your heart is happy being counted worthy to suffer for Christ, THAT IS DYING TO SELF. When your good is evil spoken of, when your wishes are crossed, your advice disregarded, your opinions ridiculed, and you refuse to let anger rise in your heart, or even defend yourself, but take it all in patient, loving silence, THAT IS DYING TO SELF. When you lovingly and patiently bear any disorder, any irregularity, any impunctuality, or any annoyance, when you can stand face to face with waste, folly, extravagance, spiritual insensibility and endure it as Jesus endured it, THAT IS DYING TO SELF. When you are content with any food, any offering, any attire, any climate, any society,...

What If

He was alone from the beginning. His mother, a strong woman, lost her second husband because she regularly beat him up. She was divorced two times and now two months before the birth of her child her present husband dies of a heart attach. The boy was alone with no nurture or affection. She was too busy for him. The example of the perfect American family was living at the same time. That family nurtured and loved their children. They had time for them. It was evident upon the children's faces. These were two different families moving towards one cold November day. His childhood was spent in loneliness. He was forbidden to call his mother at work, so he lived his life in seclusion. Surrounded by people, yet disliked by all because he didn't like himself. Ridicule and shame would be his future and it would unfold. We watched the American family with pictures of love. It was evident they enjoyed being with each other. Dad appeared to love mom. Mom loved dad. They loved thei...

Attitude Is Everything

Jerry was the kind of guy you love to hate. He was always in a good mood and always had something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, "If I were any better, I would be twins!" He was a unique manager because he had several waiters who had followed him around from restaurant to restaurant. The reason the waiters followed Jerry was because of his attitude. He was a natural motivator. If an employee was having a bad day, Jerry was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation. Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up to Jerry and asked him, "I don't get it! You can't be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?" Jerry replied, "Each morning I wake up and say to myself, Jerry, you have two choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or you can choose to be in a bad mood.' I choose to be in a good mood. Each time something bad happens, I can ...

Blame

It started in the garden, Adam said to God, "The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate." It was God's fault for giving him the woman, it was the woman's fault. Adam took no responsibility for anything he simply blamed others, even God. This is what happens when man tries to reason things out on his own. God had been very specific on his instructions, and left to trusting God and his word, Adam would have been fine. Today we would call this passing the buck, we have built elaborate excuses for just about any wrong doing and even we Christians do our share of this. We murmur against God by making up all kinds of excuses for the blessings of God not working in our life. In the book of Exodus we read of the most awesome signs and wonders that mankind has ever seen, and yet it seemingly made little or no difference to the children. They exhibited some of the most faithless behavior that man is capable of. They witnessed ten plagues, the las...

Bike Ride with God

A ride worthy going for.... At first I saw God as my observer, my judge, keeping track of the things I did wrong, so as to know whether I merited heaven or hell when I die. He was out there sort of like the President. I recognized His picture when I saw it, but I didn't really know Him. But later on when I recognized my Higher Power, it seemed as though life was rather like a bike ride; but it was a tandem bike, and I noticed that God was in the back helping me pedal. I don't know just when it was that He suggested we change places, but life has not been the same since...life with my God makes life exciting. When I had control, I knew the way. It was rather boring, but predictable. It was the shortest distance between two points. But when He took the lead, He knew delightful long cuts, up mountains, and through rocky places and at breakneck speeds. It was all I could do to hang on! Even though it looked like madness, He said "pedal." I worried and was an...

I've Learned.. Some Personal Experiences

I've  learned- that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is be someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them. I’ve learned- that no matter how much I care, some people just don’t care back. I’ve learned- that it takes years to build up trust, and only seconds to destroy it. I’ve learned- that no matter how good a friend is, they’re going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that. I’ve learned- that it’s not what you have in your life but who you have in your life that counts. I’ve learned- that you should never ruin an apology with an excuse. I’ve learned- that you can get by on charm for about fifteen minutes. After that, you’d better know something. I’ve learned- that you shouldn't compare yourself to the best others can do. I’ve learned- that you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life. I’ve learned- that it’s taking me a long time to become the person I want to be. ...

Guilt - The untreated wounds.. [ Part - I ]

Guilt - Your self destruction Never thought you gonna get over something? And you really didn't get over it until you kept worrying about it. I know that feeling. This mostly happens with the person deeply in love with someone and gets ditched or ignored without a reason. And we begin to think; 'what was my fault? What I did wrong? ' And all those stupid things. Wait, I am not here to talk about love and its consequences. NO WAY! People are having their own experiences now days and that's better for them. After all LOVE is not a matter teaching or being thought of.  Let's get to this. Sometimes in life, no matter who you are, what position you hold & no matter what kind of person you are; you feel guilty from inside. Sometime you're lucky enough to know why you're feeling so. And sometimes you don't know the reason. And sometime even by knowing this reason of being guilty but you can still can;t do anything about it. And that's t...
